The best of the BIG EAST will convene in Newport, Rhode Island next Monday and Tuesday to take part in the 2010 football media day festivities. The list of players attending the event was released Wednesday, and it’s no surprise that the most recognizable players hail from Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Cincinnati and South Florida.
Jock Sanders and defensive star J.T. Thomas will join Noel Devine as representatives for the Mountaineers. Devine shows 3,381 yards rushing yards and 23 touchdowns in his career, and looks to take over the No. 2 spot for WVU career rushers in his senior season. Sanders is West Virginia’s top returning receiver after putting up 688 yards on 72 receptions a year ago. And J.T. Thomas looks to continue the success that led to being named first-team all-BIG EAST in 2009.
Dave Wannstedt will bring along five Panthers to chow down at the clambake, most notably star running back Dion Lewis and defensive end Greg Romeus. Rounding out Pittsburgh’s attendees are wide receiver Jonathan Baldwin, offensive tackle Jason Pinkston and safety Dom DeCicco.
For first-year Bearcats coach Butch Jones, quarterback Zach Collaros will lead his list of three, which also includes receiver Armon Binns and linebacker J.K. Schaffer. And another coaching newcomer, Skip Holtz, will have quarterback B.J. Daniels and center Sampson Genus in tow to represent the Bulls.
